Keeping Game Ready: The Living Sisu Hockey League

When stars like Nick Suzuki of the Montreal Canadiens and Marie-Philip Poulin of the Montreal PWHL Team lace up for summer hockey, they choose the three-on-three three Living Sisu Hockey League (LSHL). Co-founded by Olivier Gervais, Zach Fucale and Alex Atsaidis, the LSHL offers a competitive environment where NHL, PWHL, AHL, and top prospects fine-tune their skills for the upcoming season.

The LSHL derives its name from the business Living Sisu. ‘’Sisu’’ is a Finnish concept, which embodies resilience, determination, and perseverance. This term reflects a unique form of courage and resolve that extends beyond physical stamina to include mental toughness and the spirit to overcome challenges. The founders of Living Sisu, saw a perfect fit to add the LSHL in their project where it’s a fit for the Sisu concept.
Running from mid-July to the end of August, the LSHL features two divisions for men and women. The men’s division includes NHL and AHL players, and top prospects from the QMJHL.
The women’s division showcases players from national teams, the PWHL, and top college talents. Over five weeks, four teams per division battle for top rankings, leading to playoffs and finals in Weeks 6 and 7 at the Etcetera rink in Montréal.

Suzuki, Poulin, and other elite players use the LSHL to stay sharp, ensuring they’re ready for the demands of their regular seasons. The league’s high level of competition attracts top talent, making each game a must-watch event. Beyond the rink, the LSHL supports charitable causes. The league has raised over $20,000 for pancreatic cancer research in memory of Carole Paradis, Alex Atsaidis is mother, who lost her battle with the disease. This cause is deeply personal to Atsaidis and adds profound meaning to the league’s efforts. ‘’Honouring my mother’s legacy, the values she brought to me and being able to put it through this league and supporting pancreatic cancer research gives every game a deeper purpose,’’ says Atsaidis.

Central to the LSHL’s mission is the Living Sisu app, which promotes sports and wellness. The app offers educational content, exclusive discounts from partners, and updates on events like the LSHL. Sponsors such as Quench Hydration and Montreal Balance Board provide valuable resources, enhancing the overall experience for users.

LiveBarn is pleased to sponsor the Living Sisu Hockey League (LSHL), reinforcing our commitment to supporting the growth and development of hockey at all levels. The LSHL’s dedication to fostering resilience, determination, and elite competition aligns perfectly with LiveBarn’s mission to provide comprehensive live and on-demand broadcasting services to the sports community.

The Living Sisu Hockey League is more than just summer hockey; it’s a showcase of resilience, community, and elite competition. By helping top athletes stay game-ready and supporting meaningful causes, the LSHL embodies the spirit of Sisu, making it a standout in the hockey world.
